Youth football camp

FLINT — The Flint Fury Semi-Pro Football Organization will be holding a youth football camp on May 25, at 8 a.m. at Atwood Stadium. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the camp will begin around 8:30 a.m. The camp is offered to kids between the ages of 7-12 and is free to all participants. Registation will end on March 27. Participants will learn the game of football and get physically fit. Coaches will address the importance of proper coaching, academics, health and safety, and life skills. Yearly meeting, potluck for bicycle group

GENESEE TWP. — The Genesee Wanderers Bicycle Club, a 30-year-old club in the area, encourages fitness and pleasure bicycle riding. An open meeting and potluck is scheduled for April 28 to draw new members. The current club members and any newcomers will meet at the Venice Township Hall in Lennon for a 10 a.m. 30-mile ride before the meeting. A shorter distance is available and everyone is welcome. Goodrich sets Girls’ Basketball Skills Camp

GOODRICH — The Goodrich Girls’ Basketball Summer Skills Camp for girls entering grades 3-8 (fall 2013) will be June 24-27. Smoothie event to benefit youth team

GRAND BLANC — The Goodrich Thunder U13 travel baseball team will be hosting a Tropical FUNraising Event on Friday, April 26, from 5-8 p.m. at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe, 2382 E. Hill Road. The team will receive 15 percent of the event’s sales to help fund its trip to the ESPN Wide World of Sports tournament in Orlando, Fla., in July. — D.N.

Race 2 Grace laces up

BURTON — Faithway Christian School in Burton will host the Race 2 Grace 5K Run/Walk, 1 Mile Run/Walk, Kids Fun Run and Cross Course Challenge (a military style obstacle course with mud) on Saturday, May 18. 42nd Annual Best Ball Tournament

BURTON — IMA Brookwood Golf Club in Burton will kick off the 2013 golf season with the 42nd annual IMA Two-Person Best Ball tournament on April 27-28. The field will be flighted after the first day of play and tee times will begin at 9 a.m. both days. Entry fee for season passholders is $55 and $75 for non-season passholders and includes carts and greens fees for two days and gift certificates. Players can register on-line at www.brookwoodgolfclub.com or at IMA Brookwood’s golf shop. Practice rounds will be available on April 26 for $20 per round with cart for all paid participants. FJGA registration now open

BURTON — The Flint Junior Golf Association has online registration through Monday, May 13, with play beginning on June 17.

Entry fees are $60 for the 5-hole division (ages 8-11), $70 for the 9-hole division (up to 14 for boys and 15 for girls) and $90 for the 18-hole division (ages up to 18). The entry fee is the only fee paid all year and covers weekly golf fees, a bag tag, rulebook, eight seasonal instruction clinics, a chance to win medals during weekly play and a chance to win trophies in the season-ending tournaments.

For the second straight year, FJGA will extend an invitation to junior golfers from Holly, Lapeer East, Lapeer West and Brandon high school districts. These schools are under the umbrella of the Flint Metro League.

Online registration will be accepted by logging onto www.fjga.org and following the disrections. Registration forms will also be available at King Par Golf and local participating golf courses. — D.N.

NFL Draft airs live today

NEW YORK, NY. — The 2013 NFL Draft airs in primetime with the first round today, April 25 at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the second and third rounds on Friday., April 26 at 6:30 p.m. ET. Rounds 4-7 will be held Saturday, April 27 at noon. The Draft can be viewed live on the NFL Network. The Detroit Lions have the fifth overall pick. — L.P.

Track clinic at North Branch

NORTH BRANCH — The North Branch varsity track and field coaches and athletes will be hosting a youth track and field clinic on April 27 for kids in grades K-6. The cost of the clinic is $10 with proceeds benefiting the high school program.

Practice is from 9-11 a.m. with a simulated track meet from 11 a.m.-noon. The clinic will teach block starts, sprints, long jump, shotput and other basic events. All students that participate will receive a medal. Details: Jason Castle at 810-358-6209 or Dave Castle at 810-688- 2382. — E.H.

Basketball league underway at the Cage

SWARTZ CREEK — Cage Sports is hosting a basketball league for boys and girls with Session 5 already underway as of April 16 that runs through May 16. The season will consist of 10 games plus playoffs and games will be played on Tuesday and Thursday. The team fee is $595.

Cage sports will also be hosting a high school summer league that runs June 3-June 28. There will be freshmen, junior varsity and varsity divisions. The boys’ leagues will play on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Girls will play on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. A total of 10 games will be played by each team. The team fee is $450.
