Provided photo FLINT TWP. — The smell of hotdogs on the grill, a band belting out classic cruise songs and conversations peppered with “.... my dad drove one of these....” is just a snapshot of the West Flint Community Car Cruise and Family Fun Festival, coming up from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, August 1 in the parking lot of the West Flint Church of the Nazarene, 2254 S. Dye Road.

This annual event draws individuals of all ages, according to a press release. The cars represent a multitude of eras from (Model) A to (Iroc) Z and everything in between. Enthusiasts gather around the 70 some vehicles expected to be shown and cast their vote for the “People’s Choice” Trophy.

There is no cost to attend or to enter a vehicle and dash plaques are given to each cruise entrant. A free commemorative T-shirt will be given to the first 25 entrants and will also be sold throughout the event.

The band, Jerry Mathis and the Cruisers, will provide live music. A bounce house and dunk tank will be onsite for children to enjoy.

Hot dogs, cold soft drinks, and ice cream will be available for a donation with all proceeds going to The Little Lamb’s Compassionate Ministries Centers. The center (also known as Little Lamb’s Closet) is located on the south side of the church parking lot and has provided clothing, diapers, and other items to thousands of Genesee County families since it opened to the public in 2006. Funds raised at the Car Cruise will go towards the Center’s New Mobile Unit and First Response team.

Vehicles can be registered on the day of the event or online at www.nexuslife.org/go/carcruise R.S.
