Golf Outings is provided by View Newspaper Group to give area service clubs, charitable organizations, non-profits, sports booster clubs and other civic and community organizations an opportunity to publicize their golf outings. The Andy Verplanck Memorial Golf Tournament will be held May 21 at CASTLE CREEK GOLF COURSE in Lum. Tee time 9 a.m. sharp. Cost is $65 per person or $260 per team. Four-man, four-woman or mixed teams welcome. Door prizes. Lunch provided – Hot dog at the turn. Hole sponsorships $100. The event benefits Lapeer Area Citizens Against Domestic Abuse. SATURDAY, MAY 21

The LakeVille Marching Band Fundraiser, sponsored by the LakeVille Class of 1965 and Friends, will be held May 21 at WILLOW SPRINGS in Vassar. The four-person scramble will have a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The $200 cost per team includes 18 holes of golf with cart. Lunch is available but not included. The outing will help support the marching band as it prepares to represent Michigan in the Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C. The Bendle Football Program will hold its second annual Bendle Football Golf Scramble on June 4 at IMA BROOKWOOD with a 9a.m. shotgun start. Cost is $50 a player or $200 a team. The LEADER Fund Hole-in-One Par Three Shootout will be held June 4 at METAMORA GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB, with starting times of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Registration is at 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. The entry fee is $100 for the 18-hole par-3 tournament, with a May 31 deadline to register. BBQ luncheon from noon-2 p.m. Lunch on the course. There will be prizes for the lowest 18-hole scores, 18 total prizes for closest to the pin for the entire day, 18 hole-in-one prizes valued at a minimum of $10,000 per hole and a bonus 19th hole mystery prize. Over $250,000 in prizes available. Event proceeds to benefit the Lapeer Education & Athletic Department Expenses Resource Fund. Sponsorships available. An 18-hole golf scramble on June 4 at COPPER RIDGE will be part of a day-long competition in three different sports. The event is titled Tri for CURED (Campaign Urging Research for Eosinophilic Disease) and starts with a two-person Scotch bowling tournament at Rollaway Lanes, followed by golf and a bean bag toss at Copper Ridge. Registration begins at 10:30-11 a.m. at Rollaway, with bowling beginning at 11:30. Registration is $100 per person, with a deadline of May 14 and a limit of 60 teams. Late registration is $110. The cost includes two drink tickets each at Rollaway and Copper Ridge, plus keg beer and pizza at the final event, with a cash bar and live music after the event. The annual Swartz Creek Athletic Boosters Golf Outing will be held June 11 at SWARTZ CREEK MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE in Flint. The Sis Bro’s 8th Annual Autism Golf Outing in Cooper Roberts’ honor will be held June 11 at CAPTAIN’S CLUB AT WOODFIELD. The scramble format has a 2p.m. shotgun start and includes 18 holes with cart, boxed lunch, dinner, prize, raffles and games. Cost is $75 per golfer, $300 per foursome or $30 for dinner only. The I.M.P.A.C.T Pregnancy Resource Center will be hosting their second annual golf outing Swing for A Life Event on June 11 at FENTON FARMS. Registration and continental breakfast starts at 7 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Cost is $100 per person or $400 per team ($10 off before June 4). Lunch, cart and hot dog at the turn provided. The Marine Corps League Flint Detachment will hold its annual golf outing June 18 at IMA BROOKWOOD. Registration is at 7 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Cost is $65 per person, which includes 18 holes with cart, driving range, coffee and donuts, lunch at the turn and a New York strip dinner. A $260 first prize will be awarded in three categories: men, women and seniors (65+). Also longest drive and closest to pin in all three categories. The Flint Regional Safari Chapter is hosting its second annual golf outing at LAPEER COUNTRY CLUB on June 25, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. This is a fundraiser to help wounded warriors, disabled vets, school shooting teams, scholarship programs and other community causes. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per team. The Doug Halstead Memorial Knickers and Kilts Open will be held July 16 at SUGARBUSH in Davison. The four-person scramble is also the 10th annual Burton & Davison/Richfield Fire/ Rescue Outing and was re-named for longtime Burton Fire Chief Halstead, who died in March 2014. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per team. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., free lunch at the turn and dinner and prizes to follow. The Rosenwald Harlanites, Inc. eighth annual Scholarship Golf Outing will be held Aug. 13 at the CAPTAIN’S CLUB OF WOODFIELD in Grand Blanc, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Registration fee is $75 by July 15 and $80 after, and includes lunch. Sponsorships are $100 or (new this year) $500 major sponsorships. There will be a hole-in-one contest plus 50/50 raffle, closest to the pin and longest drive contests. Mulligans and skins available, plus a silent auction and door prizes. Everyone is invited to join Les and Rhoda in their back yard for food, fun and prizes at 2 p.m. RHI has awarded $31,500 to college students since 2010, including $4,000 to three students last year.
